Australian actress, Alana de Freitas is tipped to be the next big thing in the Hollywood. The former swimsuit model and LifeFunk TV presenter is ramping up for a big year, with one movie due for release, two to be filmed, and a number of other offers to consider. No stranger to the entertainment industry, de Freitas was part of the principle cast for Snowpeck and has appeared in the feature films The Wedding Party and Queen of the Damned. Here’s what she had to say…
Question: How did you get into acting?
Alana: I think I was always acting. I was putting on my own productions for family as a kid, but officially, I had my parents enrol me in acting classes when I was nine, and it just grew from there.
Question: What would be your ideal role or storyline?
Alana: Oh that’s a hard one. There’s so much I want do. I really would like to play some kind of superhero or action role at some point. But I think if I have to choose just one role I would really want to play, it would be a biopic about a strong woman. I’m not sure who, but I think the challenge of portraying a real person, versus creating a character, would be really intense and rewarding.
Question: Who is your favourite actor?
Alana: I think Emily Blunt and Amy Adams are incredible, but I’m going to go with Sally Field. I have always loved her. And I don’t want to leave the guys out, so for a male actor, I think Sean Penn is incredible. But there are just so many amazingly talented actors out there.
Question: What advice would you give to someone interested in acting?
Alana: Just do it! Get in classes. Film things with your peers. Make a reel, get an agent. Don’t wait for things to happen. Be proactive. Don’t let the fear of failure hold you back.
Question: What can we see you in next?
Alana: ‘The Legend of Ban Hall’. It’s a biopic about an Australian bushranger that will be out later this year. I’m very excited to see the final cut. The sets and costumes were amazing. It was great to experience a period piece.
We look forward to seeing Alana on the big screen again very soon!
