We recently interviewed music composer, producer and songwriter Dom Capuano. He has worked as lead composer-songwriter and producer with various international famed artists. Recently he moved in the U.S. to pursuit his career as a composer for film and media and also continuing with productions for pop and electronic music.
He has recently done the Distribution of Richard The Lionheart with SONY and a commercial for “New Era Caps” season 2017-2018. It was really an interesting and inspiring conversation you will definitely love that.
Pro Media Mag : First of all please tell us about the start of your professional career?
Dom Capuano : I was really young when I started to think about music and not just as a joke. I began studying music from a young age and I am still doing. Back in my town Turin (Italy) when I was in the conservatory of music it was easier to interact with other young musicians. One day in 1993, I met my first producer/manager who invited me in the studio and from there after few weeks I was involved in a project that remained in the history of Italian Dance Pop, “Da Blitz”.
Pro Media Mag : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Dom Capuano : Well, like I said it came up in the course of my life, but my intention was that, I wanted to work in the music professionally no matter what 😉 I really wanted it badly.
Pro Media Mag : Tell us about the Distribution of Richard The Lionheart with SONY. How was the experience and how was the response?
Dom Capuano : With Richard, we worked really hard. During the production and post-production I was constantly in touch with the director Stefano Milla. We submitted the film in several festivals and after winning some of those, thanks also to the support of the other producers, the film got a distribution with STUDIOCANAL in UK and later in 2017, the distribution with SONY.
Pro Media Mag : So we will see your participation in more such projects in coming days?
Dom Capuano : Sure, after a first period of installment, 😉 It’s funny but I like to say that 😉 Now I am starting to get more and more opportunities.
Pro Media Mag : Recently you have also done the commercial for “New Era Caps” season 2017-2018. Tell us more about that.
Dom Capuano : That has been a surprise because I submitted the track for this long time ago and one day I got a call from one of my agents with that great news.
Pro Media Mag : You have worked with various internationally famed artists. Any particular artist or band you would love to work if you will get an opportunity?
Dom Capuano : I really love Harry Gregson-Williams and Tom Holkenborg JunkieXL, it would be amazing working with them. I would like to work also with Zedd, I think he’s really talented.
Pro Media Mag : What do you enjoy the most? Music composing, production or songwriting?
Dom Capuano : All of those have different processes and during the years I developed my own technique for each of these. Sometimes they also come together. I might stay around for hours trying to come up with an idea, it could be just a cool sound and after a melody or vice-versa. By the way one thing I usually like to do is starting from the sound. For me, creating a sound pattern is really important and brings me to the next step.
Pro Media Mag : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Dom Capuano : Being in this industry it’s already a goal and my goal is to stay in this industry 😉
