We recently caught up with the brothers from Fox Wilde, who spoke about their influences growing up, their new album and how it is everything they wanted it to be, musically. Here is what they had to say:
Please introduce yourself to the readers and how guys you first got into music:
Hey there! We are Michael and Demitri Lerios also known as Fox Wilde and we grew up in a musical household. Music was always around whether it was being played or listened to, we were definitely exposed to all avenues from a young age. Michael and I started jamming together based on my necessity to hang out with my older brother. He was playing guitar and I figured the best instrument a guitarist would want around were the drums. That was really when it all began.
Who or what were some of your influences growing up?
We found a common love for classic rock. I guess every kid in their early teen’s falls deeply in love with the energy and attitude those records exude, although it was just the starter kit to our musical tastes. From The Rolling Stones to Van Halen to Daft Punk we became obsessed with melodies and hooks.
Tell us about your new album and who you worked with?
The new album is everything we’ve ever wanted to sound like. It has the energy and drive of our past loves but the hooks and melodies of today’s legends. Well…at least we would like to think so haha. This record was written, produced and mixed by us -everything we do is from our house. We obsessed over sounds –everything from recording-to lyrics and melodies. We make a really great team when it comes to those aspects in the process.
As a band, what has been your favorite show/project to work on so far?
A favorite of ours would definitely have to be recently, playing and selling out The Troubadour! It was our 20th show and it was absolutely WILDE. (no pun intended!)
What has been one of the biggest highlights/achievements of your career?
Playing at The Troubadour is up there, but a highlight would be -being lucky enough to be in the business with my brother and loving every second, every minute and every day.
If you had a chance to work alongside any other artist/producers who would that be?
It would be pretty amazing to be in the room working with Max Martin or Daft Punk.
What have you learned most about this business?
Hard work and being consistent is a crucial combination.
What is your best piece of advice for aspiring artists?
Keep creating. Always evolve and reimagine your ability as an artist AND most importantly be consistent, steady and work really hard!
