“…Kieran Biggs really astounds, adopting a plethora of different characters, accents and even languages for his performance.” Wow! What a great review! Kieran should be used to people talking behind his back like this – they do it all the time. Critics and audience members seem to always be saying nice things about this pre-eminent Irish actor. If you’re good, you’re good and there’s nothing you can do about people who constantly tell others how good you are and then nudge them to go see your performances.
The luck of the Irish, maybe? Well, perhaps. But just because he comes from a magical island that’s located to the left of Europe and is famous for producing flax, potatoes and brilliant actors and writers, we feel that hard work and some real talent are responsible for this young man’s success in movies and theatre. We have seen him in plays and in films such as Liaison and When It Passes and each of his performances demonstrate to the world how skilled he is as an actor.
When we saw him as Hamlet in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern at the University of California at Irvine, we were blown away. Perhaps a better way to put it would be to say, we enjoyed his performance immensely! We also caught him at Irvine in the plays, A Flea in Her Ear, Under Milk Wood, I never Saw Another Butterfly and The Blue Room. We wondered who this great actor was and when we asked around we found out that he was from Ireland and that he had already graduated from Trinity College in Dublin and won a scholarship to the University of California at Irvine. We were blown away again! – Immensely!
We felt so fortunate at having been able to see this actor live and then when we found out he had a number of movies under his belt, we just rushed out to see those. Well, we really rushed out to see more of Kieran. His style is so natural and powerful at the same time. He gives off an aura of being a rather meek person, (which we really think he is) and then once he walks onto the stage or enters a movie scene, he takes command of the action and the audience all in one fell swoop.
Maybe he comes from a magical place and hard work and talent have delivered him to a high level of sophisticated acting skill, but we think that Kieran may have a little bit of the magic in himself.
