Conversation with a multi-talented music artist Weirdeux

We are sharing our recent interview with a naturally gifted music artist Weirdeux. She has recently released a single IKIFU and also working on her first album.

Weirdeux interview

Pro Media Mag : How and When did you get into music?
Weirdeux : I’ve always been into music. I’m definitely the singer in my family. I started playing the guitar when I was 10 or 11, self taught. The songwriting kinda came at a point in my life where I was not going to school, doing a lot of drugs and didn’t really know any other way to express myself. It’s second nature to me.

Pro Media Mag : Have you worked with someone inspirational in your music career? and who do you get the most inspiration from?
Weirdeux : I usually say that my songwriting is a mix between Halsey and Kacey Musgraves. Both of those artists have heavily influenced my style. As far as someone inspirational that I’ve worked with in my career, I can’t really say. Up until this point, it’s really just been me. I’ve never had help writing a song thus far.

Pro Media Mag : You have recently released a single IKIFU. Tell us about the track. By the way what does IKIFU stand for?
Weirdeux : IKIFU stands for “I Know I Fucked Up.” The song is an apology. Up until this song, I had only been able to write really angry songs to express my feelings towards my ex, who I hate to say it because he definitely doesn’t deserve any recognition, has inspired a lot of my music. I was really trying to get to him in this song, hoping that maybe we could reignite. I don’t feel the same way anymore, but writing the song really helped me through it.

Pro Media Mag : Tell us about the crowd response to your music when playing live?
Weirdeux : It’s really, really interesting for me to watch people react to my music. The first live show I ever did was at the Chain Reaction in Orange County, CA. I performed a really slow ballad, which is on the EP, called “Allison Wonderland.” It was the last song of the night, and a young woman came up to me after and told me how much the song touched her. That has definitely been one of the highlights of my career thus far.

Pro Media Mag : How often and for how long do you practice?
Weirdeux : I practice basically everyday. As soon as I get home from work, I play with my cats for a while and then go through the set or try to write new music. Honestly, most days I sleep with my guitar next to me in bed. It’s a bad habit.

Pro Media Mag : What do you do in your spare time when not working on your music career?
Weirdeux : I’m heavily involved in a non profit organization, working closely with other alcoholics. Aside from that and hanging out with my cats, you can typically find me re-watching episodes of Bojack Horseman for the 4th time.

Pro Media Mag : You have recently signed on with BSquaredMGMT. What are your plans for the future?
Weirdeux : BSquared is great. I have been able to take my music career to new heights in a very short amount of time. I’d like to go on tour within the next year or so to promote the new album once it’s released. Stay tuned until then!

Pro Media Mag : Any expected release date of your first album?
Weirdeux : Great question. All I can say is that more will be revealed. I’m hoping to be done with it by the end of 2018.
